12 January 2015, 4 days after Jonghyuns first debut showcase at SM Coex,  his first solo Base was released. The extended EP being 7 tracks and 1 bonus track.

This album is probably the most played in my car, the vibe, the songs immediately get me singing out loud. To me the whole album is like a intimate story of a love affair. That’s just me of course and we all have our own reasons don’t we for enjoyment. 🙂

From the very first song Deja Boo, which the ‘Boo’ part is a crush name for your partner, and Deja, for imagining someone already being there, this song makes me think of a lover, so like he has gone through it before. I guess hence the similarities to the saying déjà vu that you've been here and done this before.

Anyways the reason I say it’s like a story is he says ‘Ok, Next’ after the song ends. Each transitions beautifully into the next. So I could go on describing what I think of each song but I won’t , you know what I mean.☺️ Hallelujah I will mention because it’s woah with the body thrusts, oh yes indeed Hallelujah…

And one hidden track Fortune Cookie that’s paired with the bonus track, (Jjongs favourite number 7), Beautiful Tonight and. features  him playing his kazoo. What can I say about Fortune Cookie….it’s so sexy. Honestly, don’t you Cookie at me Jjong with those eyes….😄

So let’s celebrate the master genius that is Jonghyun and his debut release on this date. That man and his masterpiece Base.

7 years ago, we found out that, Jonghyuns novel Skeleton Flower: Things That Have Been Released and Set Free, (or Diphylleia Grayi) as is more widely known, was being released. Officially on October 2nd., to coincide with his new Agit Concert.



I want to tell you a little about it…it’s a beautiful novel , with 13 chapters, (one, chapter 13, is titled author’s note).


Aside the song 🎵,  it holds such in-depth meaning to me. Consequently, my name tag elsewhere is Diphylleia Grayi because of this, since 2015. 


Jonghyun spent 2 year’s previous to its release, keeping notes everyday, and taking photographs which were included in the book, by mixing his writings to coincide with the 12 songs he used from his album Story Op, and songs he wrote for SHINee,  and these were used as the chapter titles like ‘No More’, ‘Honesty’, ‘Diphylleia Grayi’, ‘I’m Sorry.’


It was a novel about a couple that had been romantically involved together spanning 5 years. 


The genius of his book, and which was different to other romance novels,  is that they broke up at the beginning of the book, he explained, (finding it funny) 😁, in October 2015, at his first of many, Agit concerts, at SM Town called ‘The Story by Jonghyun’.


I laugh, but, I always wonder if he wrote about himself, he breaks up with her, however starts to feel sad he has done that. 🥹


Anyway, as he explained about his book, (laughing) as to why would he write such a romance, (as he wasn’t into dating!)If you knew Jonghyun then, this was widely known that he veered away from romance, despite him calling himself a romanticist. In a way true I guess, considering his lyrics. 


At this concert, Jonghyun found it funny, whilst he was doing hos best impression of an author about to start writing his book, and explained that they broke up at the beginning of the story. 😁 He looked out to the audience to him Mama , and smiled saying she was giving a bitter smile, doing the funniest impression of her, and her pondering this, ‘26 year old son … nothing romantic happens to him. Although he has his fans that love him. He said she would have many thoughts on their way home, because her son himself wasn’t dating. 


Jonghyun then read a passage of the story to his audience. 


He then sang a selection of the songs. 


I personally bought two copies of the book - one to read, and one to preserve intact like the delicate flower.


A favourite passage from the book is this below . It means a lot to me. 


'How far can I go? And how long can you be with me?'

He asked her. She was silent. All she did was hug him quietly.
And I ask you as well. 

‘How far have I come? And since when have you been with me?'

I cannot let the day pass, without marking the day of Jonghyuns song he wrote Selene 6:23 (The distance between Us) that was released, it means too much.

​The Distance Between Us” better known as “Selene 6.23” is a song that appeared on the 3rd album “Misconceptions of Us.”

It is an emotional ballad that showcases the SHINee members’ exceptional vocal skills. The sad lyrics are about a person who is in love but not being able to reach her

J dedicated this to International Shawols “because we’re separated by the distance but connected through music”. Jonghyun said in SWC3 that “this song is dedicated to International Shawols who aren’t with SHINee frequently”.

Ahhhh…The distance between us…🥹 I love you dear Jjong..see you in my dreams..🌙 💤
